Undersea Fantasy, Nassau by Harry Leslie Hoffman

 

Harry Leslie Hoffman (1871-1964) Undersea Fantasy, Nassau Oil on canvas, signed lower center 42 by 56 inches Painted during the winter of 1916 when Harry Hoffman traveled to Nassau, this large painting is one of the artist’s most important works.  During this trip, a new world opened up for Hoffman as he viewed the coral reefs with a water-glass and later a glass bottom boat.  In vivid colors, he painted images of the beauty and spirit of the undersea environment.
